Introducing the Wines of Christian Venier

You may have noticed that recently, we have been thoroughly enjoying wines from the region of Touraine in the Loire Valley. Established names such as Clos du Tue-Boeuf and Herve Villemade have been grabbing our attention once again as their wines, despite being slightly off trend nowadays, are some of the most captivating and well priced bottles around.
How exciting that we can now add Christian Venier's name to this conversation. His wines are available for the first time in the UK but he is far from a newcomer. In 1988 he began working 7 hectares of vines in the same Cheverny appellation as Villemade and Clos du Tue Boeuf (he is also cousin to Thierry Puzelat) and employs much of the same viticultural philosophy as his neighbours. His reds display a lovely intensity of soft, fresh fruit whilst the whites are focussed and mineral driven.

We were only able to get our hands on a tiny amount of the following bottles;

Rouge 2022 - A juicy blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir. Easy drinking but with a nice complexity of fruit, floral and mineral notes.

Le P'Tit Pinot 2022 - An elegant expression of Pinot Noir made with semi-carbonic maceration technique. Punches well above its price point.

Le Climat de la Butte 2022 - Excellant old vine Pineau d'Aunis. Cherry, red apple skin, black pepper and liquorice notes.

Les Carteries 2022 - A precise and balanced blend of Chardonnay and Sauvignon  Gris. Citrus, white flowers and minerals.
Enjoy!
