Grape Variety: 70% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Chardonnay

Producer: Hervé Villemade

Region: Cheverny, Touraine, Loire, France

Wild Scale: 3/5

Vegan friendly wine

13.5% alcohol

Winemaking: Organic Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay grapes were harvested by hand. Fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged in old barrels. No fining or filtration and just a small amount of sulphur added at bottling.

This Wine: Natural white wine with a medium body and fresh acidity. Hervé finds a lovely balance of fruit and mineral characteristics in this wine and some delicate floral notes bring a layer of complexity. Focussed and precise, this is another great value wine from this underrated producer.

Notes on the Winemaker: Hervé Villemade has been making natural wine in the Loire valley since the late 1990s after being inspired by the Beaujolais legend Marcel Lapierre. He is situated close to Thierry Puzelat / Clos du Tue-Boeuf and just like his neighbour, produces stunning wines from local grape varieties at very reasonable prices.
