Grape Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cinsault, Jacquet
Producer: John Almansa
Region: Gard, Languedoc
Vegan friendly wine
Wild Scale: 3/5
Winemaking: Biodynamic (uncertified) grapes were hand harvested and fermented with indigenous yeast using carbonic maceration techniques in stainless steel. Aged in old barrel for 10 months before being bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Great everyday, natural red wine with medium body and good acidity. Fresh for this part of France. Favours of black fruit and a touch of dried herbs.
Notes on the Winemaker: John Almansa works with biodynamic practices on his farm in the Gard region where he also produces honey and olive oil. He is fairly new to winemaking (2015) but is already making great, easy to drink wines that have freshness and acidity in an area not always associated with these characteristics.
