Grape Variety: Gamay
Producer: Sébastien Morin
Region: Saint-Étienne-des-Oullières, Beaujolais, France
Wild Scale: 3/5
Vegan friendly wine
Winemaking: Organic Gamay grapes were harvested in early September. Whole bunch maceration for one month. Bottled in November of the same year. No fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural, still red wine. He makes very serious Gamays but this is essentially Sébastien's Beaujolais Nouveau style. Young but still has plenty of finesse and precision at the same time. Fresh and candied fruit with only 10.5% alcohol. Serve slightly chilled and you can't go wrong.
Notes on the Winemaker: Sébastien Morin assisted famous Jura winemaker Jean-Marc Brignot before settling with his own vines in Beaujolais in 2015. He farms just 1.5 hectares and creates amazing expressions of the Gamay grape that showcase depth and precision.
