Winemaking: Organic grapes grown on stony soils were hand harvested before fermentation with indigenous yeast in stainless steel. Aged in tank for 9 months. Bottled with no filtration or fining and just a small amount of sulphur.
This Wine: Still red wine with a superb balance elegance and fruit forward characteristics. Very fresh with high acidity. Sour cherry flavours and light in body.
Notes on the Winemaker: Jean-Pierre Rietsch is a natural winemaker in the village of Mittelbergheim, Alsace. His estate has been in the family for seven generations but wasn't used for vine cultivation until the 1970s. All of Jean-Pierre's wines are in very high demand but we particularly love his skin-contact cuvees which is a winemaking method rarely seen in Alsace.
