Grape Variety: Riesling
Producer: Anna, Andre & Yann Durrmann
Region: Andlau, Alsace, France
Wild Scale: 5/5
Vegan friendly wine
Winemaking: Organic Riesling grapes were harvested by hand and de-stemmed. Macerated for 3 weeks before being pressed into stainless steel. Fermentation with indigenous yeast. No fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Last year's big hit is back with the same funky edge and kick of spice. Despite the skin contact, some of Riesling's aromatic character still comes through but with a savoury twist. Complex and textured.
Notes on the Winemaker: The Durrmann family make wine the village of Andlau on the slopes of Vosges mountains in Alsace. The vineyards have been organic since 1998 and sulphur free cuvees have been produced since 2007 after Yann (the son) took over running the winery.
