Wild Scale: 4/5
Vegan friendly wine
Winemaking: Organic grapes were harvested by hand and underwent whole bunch semi-carbonic maceration for 8 days with indigenous yeast. Bottled with no fining or filtration and only a small amount of sulphur.
This Wine: A natural wine made from red and white juice with plenty of complexity despite its youthful and cherry-fruit nature. Light in body with juicy mouthfeel. The name means leisure or taking time off work to enjoy art, culture and relaxation which this wine will inevitably make you want to do.
Notes on the Winemaker: Mataburro is the project of natural winemakers Laurent Roger and Melissa Ingrand in Rivesaltes which isn't far from Perpignan in the Pyrénées-Orientales region of Southern France. They make wines with amazing freshness considering the warm Mediterranean climate. Mataburro means Donkey Killer which refers to a railway that runs through the vineyard. When it opened in 1910, a train sadly killed 2 donkeys on the first day.
