Grape Variety: 7% Nebbiolo, 93% Dolcetto d'Alba
Producer: Fabio Gea
Region: Barbaresco, Piemonte, Italy
Wild Scale: 4/5
Vegan friendly wine
Winemaking: Organic grapes were harvested by hand and fermented in porcelain vessels (made by the winemaker) with indigenous yeast. Bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Still red wine with high intensity and racing acidity. Blackberry fruit and herbal aromas such as liquorice emanate from the glass. The fruit balances with a savoury and rustic backbone on the palate. A full bodied that is best accompanied by food. Tiny production and each bottled has a handmade label, numbered in pencil.
Notes on the Winemaker: Fabio Gea farms just 1 hectare of vines in the famous region of Barbaresco. His cuvées are the antithesis of the industrial wine that now dominates Piemonte and he vinifies using a combination of glass, steel and porcelain that he makes himself. A unique and special winemaker.
