Certified Organic
Vegan friendly wine
Wild Scale: 4/5
Winemaking: Organic grapes from a Grand Cru vineyard were harvested by hand and underwent whole bunch pressing before fermentation with indigenous yeast. The wine was aged in old barrels on the lees for 20 months. Bottled with no fining or filtration and just a touch of sulphur.
This Wine: A serious natural Riesling with great intensity of fruit and a touch of the classic petrol notes associated with high end expressions of the grape. The high acidity will ensure this wine will keep getting better for a long time. Great with fish or Asian dishes.
Notes on the Winemaker: Jean-Pierre Rietsch is a natural winemaker in the village of Mittelbergheim, Alsace. His estate has been in the family for seven generations but wasn't used for vine cultivation until the 1970s. All of Jean-Pierre's wines are in very high demand but we particularly love his skin-contact cuvees which is a winemaking method rarely seen in Alsace.
