Grape Variety: Blauer Portugieser
Producer: Brand Brothers (Daniel & Jonas)
Region: Pfalz, Germany
Wild Scale: 5/5
Vegan friendly wine
Winemaking: Organic grapes were hand harvested and underwent whole bunch, cold maceration before fermentation with indigenous yeast in old oak barrels. Bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur. Aged for 18 months in bottle before release.
This Wine: A rosé wine, dark in the glass, that is suitable for any time of the year! A wild mix of berry flavours, high acidity, some earthy notes and a hint of fizz make this quite unique. Only 10% alcohol.
Notes on the Winemaker: Daniel and Jonas Brand hail from Pfalz where they took over their family winery in 2014 to concentrate on fully natural wines (with the exception being Riesling Vom Berg which is more conventional). Their wines are unique, alive and bursting with personality. We visited in 2018 to explore the vineyards and learn the stories that accompany the wines.
