Grape Variety: 80% Sangiovese, 10% Colorino, 10% Malvasia Nera
Producer: Colombaia (Dante & Helena Lomazzi)
Region: Tuscany, Italy
Wild Scale: 4/5
Vegan friendly wine
Winemaking: Organic grapes were hand harvested and underwent semi-carbonic maceration. Fermented with indigenous yeast before being bottled with no filtration, fining or added sulphur.
This Wine: Still, natural red wine. One of Colombaia's one-off editions that they dedicate to experimental winemaking techniques. This focusses more on fresh fruit flavours compared to your standard Tuscan Sangiovese. Some funkiness on the nose but not so much on the palate. Nice acidity adds to the freshness. Medium body with black cherry flavours.
Notes on the Winemaker: Dante & Helena Lomazzi work with biodynamic practices to produce the best fruit possible. They are situated in the province of Sienna and the vineyards are located around a 16th century farmhouse where they grow indigenous grape varieties.
