Grape Variety: Cartoixá, Garnacha Blanca (White Grenache), Vinyater
Producer: Partida Creus
Region: Catalunya, Spain
Wild Scale: 4/5
Winemaking: Organic grapes (uncertified) were hand harvested before fermentation with indigenous yeast in chestnut barrel where the wine then aged for a further 18 months. Bottled with no filtration, fining or added sulphur.
This Wine: MW 2017 - only 800 bottles of this very special 'Moon Wine' were produced. A natural, still white wine brimming with life and energy. Rich and electric in the mouth with apple, citrus and toasty notes. One you won't forget easily.
Notes on the Winemaker: Partida Creus is the project of Massimo Marchiori and Antonella Gerosa, Italians who were working in Barcelona before moving to the remote village of Bonastre in search of a quieter life surrounded by nature. Here they began producing wine from old, almost extinct Catalan grape varieties such as Sumoll and uncovered ancient winemaking techniques by speaking to old winemakers in the area.
