Malvasia / Moscatel
Har Megiddo 2019
La Senda
Grape Variety: 50% Malvasia, 50% Moscatel
Producer: Bodega La Senda (Diego Losada)
Region: El Bierzo, Castile y Leon, Spain
Wild Scale: 5/5
Vegan friendly wine
Winemaking: Organic (uncertified) grapes were hand harvested and fermented with indigenous yeast in chestnut barrel. The wine remained in contact with the skins for 130 days before being bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: A natural orange wine with great intensity of dried apricot and herb flavours. There is also a really unique pine aroma present. This is Diego's take on Armageddon. If it tastes this good then bring it on! Only 613 bottles produced.
Notes on the Winemaker: Diego Losada is very much an outsider in his hometown of Ponferrada in the North of Spain and this was the case even before winemaking. Now he creates wines that stand out amongst the crowd in Bierzo with authentic and true reflections of the region. We have visited him a couple of times to see his vineyards and help him in the winery, always to the soundtrack of Metallica!
