Pinot Noir / Bacchus / Pinot Gris
Pet Nat 2022
Grape Variety: 66% Pinot Noir, 34% Pinot Gris & Bacchus
Producer: Ham Street (Lucie & Jules) & Offbeat
Region: Hamstreet, Kent, UK
Wild Scale: 4/5
Vegan friendly wine
Winemaking: Organic Bacchus, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris grapes grown by Ham Street were harvested by hand and taken to Wiltshire for the winemaking. Foot crushed before co-fermentation with indigenous yeast in fibreglass tanks. The wine was bottled before this process was complete in order to create fizz in the bottle (Ancestral winemaking technique - Pet Nat). No filtration, fining or added sulphur. Not disgorged.
This Wine: Ham Street's Pet Nat is back for the 2022 vintage> this time Pinot Noir leads the way (as opposed to Bacchus in 2021) which leads to a deeper and riper wine with more concentration of red fruit. You can really taste the hot British summer of 2022 here! One of the best English Pet Nats we have had yet!
Notes on the Winemaker: Lucie and Jules grow grapes in Kent using organic and biodynamic farming practices (with certification to follow soon). Daniel and Nicola at Offbeat purchase many of these grapes to make their own wine with and Dan has spoken to us enthusiastically about the quality of fruit produced. This year Dan has made a wine for them bottled under the Ham Street label.
