Grape Variety: Grenache, Carignan, Syrah, Muscat
Producer: Domaine de Mena (Sebastien Agelet)
Region: Roussillon, France
Wild Scale: 4/5
Vegan friendly wine
Winemaking: Organic grapes were harvested by hand. Fermented with indigenous yeast. No filtration, fining or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural red wine but with the addition of white juice from the Muscat grape which adds an amazing tropical and floral edge to the red and black fruit. We have never have a wine with quite the same character. Medium body with some tannins which are smooth. Only 60 bottles came to the UK so don't hang around.
Notes on the Winemaker: Sebastien Agelet previously sold his family's grapes to the local co-op until 2012 when he decided to take matters into his own hands. He is situated in the Hautes Corbières region of Roussillon where it is hot and dry but strong winds from the Pyrenees help retain freshness and acidity in the grapes. His wines are precise but full of life and energy.
