Grape Variety: a field blend of over 20 indigenous grape varieties, both red and white
Producer: Jeff Coutelou (Mas Coutelou)
Region: Beziers, Languedoc, France
Wild Scale: 4/5
Vegan friendly wine
Winemaking: Organic grapes were hand harvested and fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeast. No fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural red wine with a dark red colour but tannins are low which was a pleasant surprise. The additions of white juice add real freshness and it works well slightly chilled. Loads of juicy fruit flavours, both fresh and cooked.
Notes on the Winemaker: Jean Françoise Coutelou is a godfather of the natural wine movement in Europe. His vineyards have been certified organic since 1987 and he even had a nursery dedicated to growing rare and indigenous grape varieties. His Classe cuvée was one of the first natural wines we ever had back around 2013 and we haven't stopped loving his wines ever since.
