Grape Variety: Gamay, Pineau d'Aunis, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc
Producer: Goût à Goutte (Ariane Lesne)
Region: Loire
Wild Scale: 4/5
Vegan friendly wine
Winemaking: Organic grapes were purchased from another grower and fermented with indigenous yeast in stainless steel tanks. Bottled before the fermentation was finished in order to trap the fizz inside the bottle (ancestral winemaking technique- pet nat). Aged on the lees for 18 months. No fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Sparkling Pet Nat wine with a pinky, peachy colour. More complex than you might be used to with this style of wine due to the extended lees ageing. Dry and fruity but balanced nicely with some savoury notes. A versatile wine for food pairing.
Notes on the Winemaker: Ariana Lesne runs Domaine de Montrieux but also has a negociant project called Goût à Goutte where she makes unique and excellent sparkling Pet Nat wines with grapes sourced from elsewhere. She worked in the UK wine world before heading to the Loire valley with a mission to make her own wine.
