Grape Variety: Garnacha (Grenache)
Producer: Vinos Ambiz (Fabio Bartolomei)
Region: Sierra de Gredos, Madrid, Spain
Wild Scale: 5/5
Vegan friendly wine
Winemaking: Organic Garnacha grapes were harvested by hand nad fermented with indigenous yeast. The wine was bottled before fermentation was complete in order to create fizz in bottle (Pet Nat - Ancestral winemaking techniques). No filtration, fining or added sulphur.
This Wine: Hazy pink Pet Nat with driving acidity and flavours of candied strawberries. The wine feels alive and kicking! Slightly off dry so makes a great aperitif or a partner for a dessert that isn't too sweet.
Notes on the Winemaker: Fabio Bartolomei is of Scottish and Italian descent but he now resides in the Sierra de Gredos region of Spain, not far from Madrid. He is quite a character and this really translates to his wines which are certainly at the deep end of the natural wine spectrum. Each cuvée tends to be a real surprise but they always burst with energy and personality.
