Producer: La Petite Baigneuse (Philippe Weis)

Region: Maury, Roussillon, France

Wild Scale: 3/5

Vegan friendly wine

Winemaking: Organic Grenache, Carignan and Lledoner Pelut grapes were harvested by hand underwent fermentation with indigenous yeast in concrete. The wine was aged in old oak barrels before being bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur.

This Wine: Natural red wine with a light to medium body. In 2020, the winemaker lost a lot of grapes due to bad weather. He usually produces a range of cuvées but decided to combine them all and produce this one wine. This resulted in a more complex and sophisticated red that is fruit-forward with a delicate floral edge. Very bright with great acidity.

Notes on the Winemaker: Philippe Weis hails from Alsace but settled on the Mediterranean coast when he purchased 8.5 hectares of vines in 2004. These are located at the highest altitude within the Maury appellation (near Perpignan) which means the wines have plenty of freshness and finesse.
