Grape Variety: 50% Pinot Blanc, 50% Auxerrois
Producer: Anna, Andre & Yann Durrmann
Region: Andlau, Alsace, France
Certified Organic
Vegan friendly wine
Wild Scale: 5/5
Winemaking: Organic Pinot Blanc and Auxerrois grapes were harvested by hand. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeast after long, slow press of 6 hours. Aged on full lees in old barrels until bottling. No fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Yann has added Auxerrois to his Pinot Blanc cuvée this year which brings a rounder and richer character to the wine. It still has the acidity that his wines are known for with lots of fresh fruit character (orchard, citrus and tropical). It's a great price too!
Notes on the Winemaker: The Durrmann family make wine in the village of Andlau on the slopes of Vosges mountains in Alsace. The vineyards have been organic since 1998 and sulphur free cuvees have been produced since 2007 after Yann (the son) took over running the winery.
