Winemaking: Organic Pinot Blanc grapes were harvested by hand. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeast after long, slow press of 6 hours. Aged on full lees in old barrels until bottling. No fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural white wine with a hazy appearance in the glass. High acidity but still some pleasant roundness which makes this a versatile wine for pairing with food. Expect orchard and citrus fruits with a hint of something tropical .
Notes on the Winemaker: The Durrmann family make wine in the village of Andlau on the slopes of Vosges mountains in Alsace. The vineyards have been organic since 1998 and sulphur free cuvees have been produced since 2007 after Yann (the son) took over running the winery.
