Winemaking: Organic Pinot Blanc, Riesling and Pinot Gris grapes grown on schiste soils were harvested by hand. The Pinot Blanc grapes were macerated for 3 weeks and then blended with the other 2 varieties that underwent direct press. Fermentation with indigenous yeast in stainless steel. Bottled before fermentation ended in order to create fizz in the bottle (Pet Nat, Ancestral Method). Disgorged in November 2020. No dosage, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: A brand new wine from Yann Durrmann. It's orange and it's sparkling...what's not to like? Ripe fruit and aromatic characteristics. The maceration of the Pinot Gris provides some texture. Fresh and fun.
Notes on the Winemaker: The Durrmann family make wine the village of Andlau on the slopes of Vosges mountains in Alsace. The vineyards have been organic since 1998 and sulphur free cuvees have been produced since 2007 after Yann (the son) took over running the winery.
