Grape Variety: Pinot Noir
Producer: Franz Weninger
Region: Mittelburgenland, Austria
Certified Organic and Biodynamic
Wild Scale: 4/5
Vegan friendly wine
Winemaking: Biodynamic grapes were harvested by hand and spontaneously fermented with indigenous yeast. Ancestral winemaking techniques (pet nat) caused second fermentation in bottle. Unfined, unfiltered and no added sulphur.
This Wine: Pink pet nat from Franz Weninger who recently confirmed to us that he won't be making sparkling wine anymore. You'll be surprised to hear that when you drink this because it's delicious . We are used to drinking Pet Nat in its youth but this bottle being from 2017 brings some unexpected complexity. Citrus, Orchard and red berry fruit combines perfectly with a touch of residual sugar and light bubbles. Only 600 bottles made.
Notes on the Winemaker: Franz Weninger grew up in Burgenland, the region in East Austria that borders Hungary. He runs two wineries, one in each country using biodynamic techniques with a deep commitment to the environment. His wines offer outstanding value for such high quality.
