Grape Variety: Pinot Noir
Producer: Lucas Rieffel
Region: Mittelbergheim, Alsace, France
Wild Scale: 4/5
Vegan friendly wine
Winemaking: Organic Pinot Noir grapes were hand harvested. Whole bunch maceration and fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged on old Burgundy barrels. Bottled with no fining, filtration and just a small amount of sulphur.
This Wine: A fruit-driven Pinot Noir that is bright and refreshing, thanks in part to a small amount of CO2 intentionally left in the wine. Great as a casual drink with friends but would also go well with light food dishes.
Notes on the Winemaker: Lucas Rieffel is situated in the area of Mittelbergheim, not far from another of our favourite producers, Jean-Pierre Rietsch. They are part of the same movement focussed on producing wines with minimal intervention and utilising techniques such as skin maceration in the winemaking process.
