This month we are reading The Safekeep by Yael van der Wouden. The book club will take place on Thursday 31st July AND Wednesday 6th August at 7:45pm.
Choose the date that works for you and purchase your ticket here. You can then buy the book through our good friends at Book Bar who are kindly offering 10% off with the code RBTW10.
On the night, Joanna will give an introduction to the wines and why they have been matched to the book. You have the option to purchase them by the glass - a great excuse to try them both. You can also take a bottle away with at a special RBTW price. Emily will then kick start the conversation. We like to give everyone a chance to contribute, if they wish. It's a warm and friendly evening and we love getting to know everyone!
THE BOOK:

This is a debut novel set in 1960s rural Netherlands. It follows a reclusive protagonist who strikes up an unlikely relationship with her brother’s girlfriend who moves in for the summer.
The Women’s Prize judges called it an “astonishing debut... a masterful blend of history, suspense and historical authenticity”. It was Booker shortlisted too, among other prizes.
Every review I read seems to pull out a different theme - calling it a romance, psychological suspense, historical, political novel - I wonder what we will take from it. We’re excited to see what the fuss is about!
