Grape Varieties: Syrah
Producer: La Fermes des Sept Lunes (Jean Delobre)
Region: Outskirts of Saint Joseph, Northern Rhône
Vegan friendly wine
Wild Scale: 3/5
Winemaking: Biodynamic Syrah grapes were a harvested by hand. One third of grapes were de-stemmed whilst the remaining whole bunches underwent semi carbonic maceration and fermentation with indigenous yeast. Bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural red wine with dark fruits, earthiness and spice. Essentially a fruitier version of a Saint Joseph as it's from the outskirts of the appellation, but at a fraction of the price. Medium bodied. Fresher and easier drinking compared to the more serious Premier Quartier 2018.
Notes on the Winemaker: Jean Delobre makes elegant but powerful wine from the Syrah grape in the Northern Rhône along with indigenous white varietals. The vineyards have been biodynamic since 1997 and they rarely use any sulphur at all.
