Grape Variety: Syrah, Grenache
Producer: Pèira Levada (Alexandre Durand)
Region: Faugères, Languedoc, France
Wild Scale: 4/5
Winemaking: Organic Syrah and Grenache grapes grown on clay and marble soils were harvested by hand. Fermentation with indigenous yeast. Bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: A fruit-forward red wine which is lively on the palate. More of a fun and expressive wine compared to The Velvet Underschiste from the same producer which is more serious.
Notes on the Winemaker:
Since 2018, Alex Durand has been working 4 hectares of vines in the Hérault department of Southern France. He uses no sulphur and works organically with biodynamic principles. The domaine takes its name from the large marble formations that jut out from the soil in this region.
