Grape Variety: Syrah, Grenache
Producer: Pèira Levada (Alexandre Durand)
Region: Faugères, Languedoc, France
Wild Scale: 4/5
Winemaking: Organic Syrah and Grenache grapes grown on schist soils were harvested by hand. Fermentation with indigenous yeast. Bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Deep red wine with medium to full body. With just a hint of red and black fruit, this is all about minerals! Fresh acidity with a hint of uplifting spritz on opening. Wonder what Nico would have made of it...
Notes on the Winemaker: Since 2018, Alex Durand has been working 4 hectares of vines in the Hérault department of Southern France. He uses no sulphur and works organically with biodynamic principles. The domaine takes its name from the large marble formations that jut out from the soil in this region.
