Winemaking: Biodynamic Trepat grapes were hand harvested underwent fermentation with indigenous yeast in stainless steel tanks. A small proportion of grapes also underwent carbonic maceration. Aged in tank over the winter and bottled in early Spring with no fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Still red wine with medium body and a hint of soft tannin. This is made from an indigenous Catalan grape variety called Trepat. The cherry fruit flavours are supported with delicate floral and pepper notes. Easy drinking but with interesting complexity and can be a good partner for food but doesn't necessarily need it.
Notes on the Winemaker: Carlania Celler is a family peration that up until 2009, grew grapes and sold them to the local co-op. They then built their own winery in order to give full attention and care to the wines produced from their biodynamic grapes grown around 500m above sea level.
