Winemaking: Organic Xarel Lo grapes were harvested by hand and fermented with indigenous yeast in stainless steel. Aged in tank for 4 months then in old oak barrels for a further year. Some wine from 2018 was blended in making up a final percentage of 10%. Bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Clean and pure Xarel Lo made with no additions which may seem surprising as it's very clean and precise. On the slightly rich and rounder side so a versatile wine for food pairings. Amazing value for a zero sulphur wine. The name of the wine means Firefly, chosen by the winemakers as this insect inhabits their vineyards.
Notes on the Winemaker: El Vinyerons is a joint project between winemakers Amos Bañeres & Alex Ruiz in Penédes, just outside Barcelona. They have the simple mission to create honest wines from local varieties that reflect the terroir of the region. They respect the land and use no additives in the cellar.
