Winemaking: Riesling grapes were grown on schist soils before being harvested by hand. Fermentation in stainless steel with indigenous yeast. No filtration, fining or added sulphur.
This Wine: A natural Riesling with rich green apple, lemon and lime flavours. A hint of smoke/flint and a long, complex finish. Hazy and alive in the glass, full of goodness.
Notes on the Winemaker: The Durrmann family make wine the village of Andlau on the slopes of Vosges mountains in Alsace. The vineyards have been organic since 1998 and sulphur free cuvees have been produced since 2007 after Yann (the son) took over running the winery.
