2023 Arrivals from Yann Durrmann

2023 Arrivals from Yann Durrmann

We are always excited to receive new wines from the Durrmann domaine in Alsace, especially when there are some new cuvées thrown into the mix...

Yann has managed to expand his output in recent years by purchasing grapes from organic growers nearby. Labels with animals and insects indicate a cuvée made with such grapes.

From the negotiant side we have received Rosé 2023, a new cuvée made from Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris grapes which appears to effectively replace the previous Rosé de Pinot Noir. Just like its predecessor, full of energy and life! Rouge Gorge 2023 is a new wine made from Pinot Noir grapes. Clocking in at just 10.5% alcohol, this is a super light red that works well slightly chilled. The red and white litre bottles are back for their second vintage. Ron-Rond Le Litron Rouge 2023 is a light and funky blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris whilst Ron-Rond Le Litron Blanc 2023 is made up of Riesling, Sylvaner, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Blanc. Finally, the zippy Grizzling Pet Nat is back. A white sparkling wine made from 100% Riesling.

We are also thrilled to receive a host of classic cuvées. These are represented by the now iconic labels with the painted Alsatian scene along with the exception of Zegwur 2023. The bargain white Sylvaner 2023 makes a welcomed return along with the cult classic Pet Nat Gaz de Schiste 2023 which is a skinsy blend of Pinot Blanc & Pinot Gris. Talking of skins, KRAX 2023 has arrived. This is an orange Riesling made with 3 weeks of maceration. Mineral driven with gentle spice, this wine is always a huge favourite. Finally, Rouge di Pinot Noir 2023 is tasting more structured and serious than ever and it also feels like a wine that will age superbly.

Also don't forget to check out The Cellar where you can find no less than 3 back vintages of Zegwur including the 2019 expression that had no skin contact. A very different wine, now displaying a lot of elegance. There are also older Riesling cuvées to be found.

Happy drinking!
