A new Haul from Jean-Pierre Rietsch
Few growers in Alsace bridge the gap between regional tradition and low-intervention innovation quite like Jean-Pierre Rietsch. Operating out of Mittelbergheim, a village steeped in blue-silt sandstone and limestone terroir his wines have long been a benchmark for pure, expressive winemaking with sulphur only used when absolutely required.

Jean-Pierre's vineyards in 2022
Whether it's extended skin contact cuvées, deep and complex single vineyard Rieslings or glou-glou litre bottles designed for sharing, Jean-Pierre’s lineup never fails to deliver energy, electric acidity, and unmistakable sense of place.
We’ve just unpacked a fresh delivery from Alsace so here’s a run-down of the latest bottles now on our shelves.
The New Arrivals
Coquette 2025 | £32.00
-
Grapes: 40% Pinot Gris, 30% Sylvaner, 16% Gewurztraminer, 14% Pinot Noir
-
Style: Vibrant, light skin-contact co-ferment that drinks like an aromatic, light red
-
Wild Scale: 3/5
A new label for this playful blend of red and white grapes that highlights Jean-Pierre’s skill with skin contact and co-fermentation. The Gewurztraminer gives high-toned lychee and spice on the nose, while Sylvaner and Pinot Gris supply drive and texture, rounded out by a touch of red-fruit brightness from the Pinot Noir.
Murmure 2025 | £30.00
-
Grapes: 100% Muscat Ottonel
-
Style: Aromatic orange / skin-contact wine
-
Wild Scale: 3/5
Murmure brings down the intensely floral side of Muscat, transformed through skin contact into a textured, dry orange wine. Expect notes of orange blossom, dried citrus peel, and white tea, with fine tannins that keep every sip refreshing rather than heavy. The 2025 vintage sports another new label for this popular cuvée.
Tout Rouge Litre 2025 | £30.00
-
Grapes: 70% Pinot Noir, 30% Pinot Gris
-
Style: Juicy, chilled red / co-ferment (1 Litre)
-
Wild Scale: 3/5
The ultimate party bottle. By co-fermenting light-skinned Pinot Gris with Pinot Noir, Rietsch creates an ultra glou-glou red loaded with sour cherry, cranberry, and fresh herbs. Serve it chilled straight from the fridge for ultimate enjoyment.
Tout Blanc Litre 2025 | £29.00
-
Grapes: 52% Auxerrois, 43% Riesling, 5% Sylvaner
-
Style: Fresh, easy-drinking house white (1 Litre)
-
Wild Scale: 3/5
The white counterpart to Tout Rouge and we think this is the best vintage yet! Driven by soft, round Auxerrois and lifted by zip from Riesling and Sylvaner, this is a clean, everyday natural white with a lovely energy. Effortlessly drinkable and amazing value.
Quasimodo 2023/2024 | £29.00
-
Grapes: Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Auxerrois
-
Style: Natural sparkling white
-
Wild Scale: 3/5
A brand new cuvée from Jean Pierre which acts as a lighter, easier alternative to his iconic crémant. Combining the creaminess of Chardonnay with the aromatic lift of Pinot Gris and Auxerrois, Quasimodo offers fine bubbles, subtle orchard fruit notes, and a refreshing, savoury edge on the finish.
Riesling Stein 2024 | £38.00
-
Grapes: 100% Riesling
-
Style: Crisp, mineral, focused white
-
Wild Scale: 3/5
Sourced from the sandstone soils of the Stein lieu-dit, this expression of Riesling is razor sharp. Expect crisp green apple, citrus zest, and that signature flinty salinity that makes Rietsch’s dry Rieslings so compelling. Pure, electric, and built for seafood or sharp cheeses. Tasting good now but if you want to drink this wine at it's very best, we would lay it down for a couple of years at least.
Riesling Grand Cru Wiebelsberg 2024 | £37.00
-
Grapes: 100% Riesling
-
Style: Complex, structured Grand Cru white
-
Wild Scale: 3/5
The Wiebelsberg Grand Cru slope features pink Vosges sandstone, giving the wine a distinct combination of power and elegance. This is Riesling operating at a higher volume with richer texture, deeper fruit, and a long, chalky finish balanced by driving natural acidity. As with Stein, this will get better for many years to come so resist drinking for now if you can. We have a 2018 that we are looking forward to opening soon.
We have 21 differtent Rietsch wines in stock including back vintages so be sure to check them out here and get in touch if you need any help
Happy drinking!
