Discover the Wines of Tre.Mi.La on Mount Etna

On the eastern side of Mount Etna, 800m above sea level, Gloria di Paola farms 3 hectares of vines. This is one of the most beautiful vineyard locations I have ever visited, with the snowy peak of Etna visible above us and the gleaming Mediterranean sea below. If that wasn't dramatic enough, the vineyards and buildings are covered in black fragments of ash from volcanic eruptions (known locally as 'lapilli'), a reminder of Etna's power and beauty.

The vines were planted in 1992, two years before Gloria was born and the grapes were previously sold to the co-op until she decided to make her own wine in 2019. Near the village of Milo, she works out of a small garage (whilst the family Palmento is restored) and produces unique and authentic expressions of this special part of the world. The grapes come from parcels around the winery as well as from plots in Altrano on the other side of the volcano.

We currently have the following wines in stock;

Generazioni 2022

A textured white wine made from Carricante grapes from plots around the winery. This vintage was aged in Acacia barrels which results in a rounder, textured white wine (thanks to 36 hours skin contact). Orange, lemon, herbal and floral elements combine with a savoury and smokey finish. Only 350 bottles produced.

Generazioni 2023

The 2023 vintage was only raised in steel which results in a leaner wine that is more mineral and acid driven. An elegant and pure expression of Carricante with citrus, delicate spice and honeyed characteristics. Only 500 bottles produced.

Ex Vota 171 2022

Made from 80% red Nerello Mascalese grapes and 20% white Catarratto & Carricante grapes grown on the southern side of Etna, this displays a smokey, volcanic character alongside bright red fruit and a hint of citrus. Light and delicate but great concentration.
