Cinsault Good! New Wine from Les Foulards Rouges
We'll admit that we have obviously been sleeping on the wines of Les Foulards Rouges for sometime. It was one of those names you always see around but for some reason you have never tasted and know nothing about. Finally we opened a bottle of the Nouveau style "Octobre" cuvée (now sadly sold out) and we were immediately sold. Such a depth and purity of fruit whilst retaining a delicate body and fresh acid. The best combination! Especially impressive as winemaker Jean-Francois Nicq is situated in the depths of Southern France, close to the border with Spain in the foothills of the Pyrenees.
Now we have received Le Fond de l'Air est Rouge 2024 from him and as soon as we put it online, it sold out straight away. Luckily we now have a re-stock and get a chance to shout about it. Made from 100% Cinsault grapes, this is again a delicate wine that showcases a complex and deep profile of red cherries, spice and herbs. Absolutely stunning for the price. Grab one today!
Whilst on the subject of superb value Cinsault, you should take a look at Cuvée Paulou 2023 from Le Mazel in the Ardèche. Slightly more body that the previously mentioned wine but still super fresh and full of fruit and herbs. As usual with Gerald Oustric's wines, a real bargain!
Happy drinking!
