De Moor For All!

De Moor For All!

We have been huge fans of the wines of Alice and Olivier De Moor for as long as we can remember. Located east of Auxerre in the village of Courgis, the duo create beautifully precise and elegant cuvées from the Chablis, Chitry, Bourgogne and Saint Bris appellations.

Usually we receive very tiny quantities of these wines, such is the huge demand, but this year we have got our hands on a bit more...

First up is one of the most iconic De Moor cuvées Bourgogne Aligoté NV . Known for its amazing value, this is made from the domaine's own grapes but this year is a blend of 2 vintages (2022 & 2023). The resulting wine is one of balance with citrus and orchard fruit and a touch of white floral aromatics. We also have one bottle of Bourgogne Aligoté 2021 left in the cellar for a lucky customer!

Next up is Bourgogne Chitry 2023 made with grapes from Chablis' neighbouring appellation...Chitry! Again from Alice and Olivier's own grapes, this represents a richer and rounder cuvée, full of depth, with a mineral focus. Once again we have a bottle of Bourgogne Chitry 2022 hiding in the depths of the cellar.

Now onto the De Moor negotiant arm where the duo buy organic fruit from friends and neighbours. The wines are labelled under "Le Vendangeur Masqué" (the masked grape picker) labels to show that the grapes don't come from their own vines but don't be mistaken into thinking they are of any lesser quality. Always showing a great intensity and concentration of fruit and minerals, these are not to be missed. Le Vendangeur Masqué Bourgogne Blanc 2022 and Le Vendangeur Masqué Chablis 2023 have just arrived and we have a bottle of Le Vendangeur Masqué Chablis 2022 in the cellar.

Finally, there is one bottle of Nuovo Descriptio 2022 available. This is a cuvée made with Sauvignon Blanc grapes from the Burgundy appellation of Saint Bris along with Chardonnay and some macerated Aligoté. The wine previously known as Sans Bruit!

Plenty to get stuck into...

Happy Drinking!
