Barbera / Bonarda
Trebbiolo 2019
La Stoppa
Grape Variety: Barbera, Bonarda
Producer: La Stoppa (Elena Pantaleoni)
Region: Emilia-Romagna, Italy
Wild Scale: 4/5
Vegan friendly wine
Winemaking: Organic Barbera and Bonarda grapes were hand harvested and fermented with indigenous yeast and aged in a mixture of stainless steel and acacia barrels. No fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Big and bold red wine but with smooth tannins and plenty of freshness from the high acidity. Flavours of fresh red and black cherry, plum and earth. Best served with a hearty dish, preferably something from Emila-Romagna.
Notes on the Winemaker: Elena Pantaleoni took over the La Stoppa winery in the 90s and it's now one of the strongest names in Emilia-Romagna for natural wine. Organic farming is all done by hand and they work with minimal intervention in the winery.
