Grape Variety: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Marsanne
Producer: Anders Frederick Steen & Anne Bruun Blauert
Region: Valvignères, Ardèche, France
Wild Scale: 5/5
Vegan friendly wine
Winemaking: Organic
Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay grapes were harvested by hand from the vineyards of Le Mazel. Slow direct press and fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged in old barrels for 2 years. No fining, filtration or added sulphur.
This Wine: Natural white wine with a wild edge as you may expect from Anders and Anna. This is rounded with unexpected dark, mineral notes alongside something reminiscent of toffee apple. The wine opens up and changes a lot as its exposed to oxygen. Best enjoyed with food.
Notes on the Winemaker: Anders Frederick Steen & Anne Bruun Blauert hail from Denmark but settled in the Ardeche to focus on their winemaking dream in back in 2013. Since then they have become one of the most sought after names in the natural wine world. They produce wines that are honest and representative of this wild region. The pair don't look to recreate the same wine each vintage and instead adapt to whatever conditions a new year brings.
