Winemaking: Organic Gewurztraminer grapes were harvested by hand. 25% of the grapes were macerated for 3 weeks. The other 75% underwent a slow press for 6 hours. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged on full lees in tank until bottling. No fining, filtration or added sulphur.

This Wine: Always one of our favourite cuvées from Yann, this is a skin contact wine made from Gewurtztraminer grapes that were previously used by the family to make sweet wine. You always get a complex bouquet of tropical flavours but the 23 vintage brings a more restrained and classy expression to the table. Delicate aromatics, great texture and perfect balance. 5300 bottles produced.

Notes on the Winemaker: Yann Durrmann lives in the village of Andlau in the Bas-Rhin department of Alsace. His parents decided to become full time winemakers after the previous generation had explored viticulture as a hobby. They managed to acquire amazing plots on the steep slopes of the Vosges mountains that were not in high demand as farmers looked for sites that could be easily accessed with machines. Since 1998, the vineyards have been farmed organically and in 2007, Yann began to take over the running of the domaine and decided that wines should be produced without sulphur additions, something his parents were very open minded about. The Durrmann cuvées are now in high demand, always recognised for their ability to show honest and pure expressions of Alsace terroir along with their great value.
