Winemaking: Organic Pinot Noir grapes were harvested by hand and de-stemmed. Macerated for 4 weeks and fermented with indigenous yeast in stainless steel. Aged in tank. Bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur. 5300 bottles produced.
This Wine: The 2023 vintage of Yann's Pinot Noir is quite different from previous years. The signature juicy fruit remains but is complimented by much more weight and structure along with a mineral finish. A more serious wine that lends itself more to food but a hint of volatile acidity reminds you that this is still a Durrmann wine. Will get better and better with time.
Notes on the Winemaker: The Durrmann family make wine in the village of Andlau on the slopes of Vosges mountains in Alsace. The vineyards have been organic since 1998 and sulphur free cuvees have been produced since 2007 after Yann (the son) took over running the winery.
