Winemaking: Hand harvested grapes from Grand Cru vineyards underwent fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged in old barrels for 20 months on the lees and bottled with no filtration or fining. Very small amount of added sulphur (8mg/litre).

This Wine: Natural white wine with high intensity and great acidity. This is full bodied and should be served with food. A fine expression of Riesling from one of the best vineyards in Alsace. 

Notes on the Winemaker: Jean-Pierre Rietsch is a natural winemaker in the village of Mittelbergheim, Alsace. His estate has been in the family for seven generations but wasn't used for vine cultivation until the 1970s. He has garnered a reputation as a legend in this area and when you try his wines, you'll see why. From rich and complex Riesling to traditional method sparkling wine and skin contact cuvées, his wide range has something for everyone.
