Winemaking: Organic Gamay grapes were harvested by hand. Semi-carbonic maceration in stainless steel and fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged in old Burgundy barrels for 10 months. No fining, filtration and just a touch of added sulphur on bottling
This Wine: Natural red wine with a delicate but complex character. Ripe raspberry and red cherry fruit shines alongside touches of violet and spice. An iconic cuvée from one of the the most important names in Beaujolais. Age-worthy.
Notes on the Winemaker: Marcel Lapierre took over his family winery in 1973 and became a pioneer of the natural wine scene by eschewing the use of sulphur in the early 80s. He sadly passed away in 2010 but left the winery in Morgon, Beaujolais in good hands. His son and daughter Mathieu and Camille Lapierre now take care of things and continue to promote his values and philosophy.
