Winemaking: Organic Pinot Noir and Gamay grapes were harvested by hand. Fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged in old barrels. No fining or filtration and just a small amount of sulphur added at bottling.
This Wine: Natural red wine on the light and juicy side but still nice layers of complexity. Blood orange, candied raspberry, red cherries and dried violets. Outstanding value.
Notes on the Winemaker: Hervé Villemade has been making natural wine in the Loire valley since the late 1990s after being inspired by the Beaujolais legend Marcel Lapierre. He is situated close to Thierry Puzelat / Clos du Tue-Boeuf and just like his neighbour, produces stunning wines from local grape varieties at very reasonable prices.
