Vegan friendly wine

Winemaking: Organic Gamay grapes were harvested by hand. Whole bunch infusion and fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged for 9 months in old oak barrels. Bottled with no filtration, fining or added sulphur.

This Wine: Natural red wine with a light to medium body. This comes from 100 year old Gamay vines planted around Romuald's house in the village of Beaujeu. Wild red fruit and a touch of earthiness combine with fresh acidity provided from the elevation here at 500m above sea level. All of his wines are great value but this even more so.

Notes on the Winemaker: Romuald Valot worked with conventional winemakers in Burgundy for many years but craved to make wine in a more natural way. With this in mind, he bought a small plot of vines in a remote part of Beaujolais and took on a dogmatic approach to organic farming, sometimes not even pruning. In the cellar, all the cuvées are made with the carbonic maceration technique using whole bunches. The resulting wines are full of character and energy and strike a beautiful balance between simple and complex.
