Wild Scale: 3/5

Winemaking: Organic Gewurtztraminer grapes were harvested by hand. 2/3 of the grapes underwent a 11 day whole bunch maceration. Direct press for the remaining 1/3. Fermentation with indigenous yeast. Matured on the lees for 8 months in barrel. Bottled with no fining or filtration and just a small amount of sulphur.

This Wine: Always one of our favourite Riestch cuvées but we haven't tasted yet so will update once we have!

Notes on the Winemaker: Jean-Pierre Rietsch is a natural winemaker in the village of Mittelbergheim, Alsace. His estate has been in the family for seven generations but wasn't used for vine cultivation until the 1970s. He has garnered a reputation as a legend in this area and when you try his wines, you'll see why. From rich and complex Riesling to traditional method sparkling wine and skin contact cuvées, his wide range has something for everyone.
