Winemaking: Organic Auxerrois grapes were harvested by hand. Macerated for 6 days and fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged in old barrels on the lees for 8 months. Bottled with no fining, filtration or added sulphur.

This Wine: Organic Auxerrois grapes from a vineyard in Stierkopf were purchased. The slope is south facing which brings a rich and rounded skin contact wine with complexity and texture. 

Notes on the Winemaker: Jean-Pierre Rietsch is a natural winemaker in the village of Mittelbergheim, Alsace. His estate has been in the family for seven generations but wasn't used for vine cultivation until the 1970s. He has garnered a reputation as a legend in this area and when you try his wines, you'll see why. From rich and complex Riesling to traditional method sparkling wine and skin contact cuvées, his wide range has something for everyone.
