Winemaking: Organic Muscat grapes were harvested by hand. 10 day semi-carbonic maceration. Fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged in old barrels on the lees for 7 months. Bottled with no fining or filtration and just a small amount of sulphur (7mg/litre).

This Wine: Natural orange wine made from one of our favourite grape varieties. This is a more refined style that some orange Muscats with an almost tea-like character with delicate perfumed notes. Great aperitif! 

Notes on the Winemaker: Jean-Pierre Rietsch is a natural winemaker in the village of Mittelbergheim, Alsace. His estate has been in the family for seven generations but wasn't used for vine cultivation until the 1970s. All of Jean-Pierre's wines are in very high demand but we particularly love his skin-contact cuvees which is a winemaking method rarely seen in Alsace.
