Winemaking: Organic Pinot Gris grapes grown on calcareous sandstone were harvested by hand. Whole bunch maceration for 14 days. Fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged in old barrels on the lees for 8 months. Bottled with no fining or filtration and just a tiny amount of sulphur.

This Wine: A skin contact wine made from a white grape that often develops a pink skin. So this effectively drinks like a very light red. We will update this when we have sampled this current vintage.

Notes on the Winemaker: Jean-Pierre Rietsch is a natural winemaker in the village of Mittelbergheim, Alsace. His estate has been in the family for seven generations but wasn't used for vine cultivation until the 1970s. He has garnered a reputation as a legend in this area and when you try his wines, you'll see why. From rich and complex Riesling to traditional method sparkling wine and skin contact cuvées, his wide range has something for everyone.
