Winemaking: Organic Riesling grapes were hand-harvested underwent fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged in old barrels for 31 months on the lees and bottled with no filtration, fining or added sulphur.

This Wine: A very special vintage for this wine that we saved in the cellar. The extended lees ageing gives so much intensity and complexity to this single plot Riesling. Electric citrus fruit and striking minerality. Round but balanced, fresh acidity. 

Notes on the Winemaker: Jean-Pierre Rietsch is a natural winemaker in the village of Mittelbergheim, Alsace. His estate has been in the family for seven generations but wasn't used for vine cultivation until the 1970s. All of Jean-Pierre's wines are in very high demand but we particularly love his skin-contact cuvees which is a winemaking method rarely seen in Alsace.
