Winemaking: Organic Nero d'Avola and Frappato grapes were hand harvested and de-stemmed before fermentation. Aged in old barrels before bottling with no filtration, fining or added sulphur.  

This Wine: Natural red wine with a medium body but soft tannins. Black fruit with dried Mediterranean herbs. Beautifully concentrated with fresh acidity and unmistakably Sicilian. Best served with food.

Notes on the Winemaker: Filippo Rizzo makes natural wine near the village of San Michele di Ganzaria. This internal part of Sicily is 500m above sea level which brings fresh acidity to his wines in a land where that isn't always possible. Since 2000 he has been farming 5 hectares of vines in a biodiverse environment of olive and almond trees to create rustic but well made wines full of Sicilian Mediterranean character.
